Dear 1Ls

D

Dear 1Ls,

This one’s mostly for you. You’re about to get your first round of law school grades back, and you’re probably not feeling great about that. You may find some surprises, and it might set the tone for the rest of the term regardless of whether you’re happy with your results or not. It’s a hard time for students every year, but you’re going to feel the pressure the most. You may feel like term 2 is already running away from you. There’s really no time in law school quite like January of 1L.

OPSC wanted to remind you that no matter how grades release goes for you, you’re just as bright, qualified, and infinitely capable as you were before you got the three marks back that you were waiting for. The truth is that grades make up only a fraction of your worth as a law student, and you’re unfortunately only going to see that pan out in real life in due course. We promise that these marks are far from a metric of your value as a part of our Osgoode community, and we hope you take them with as many grains of salt as there are students on your curve. You’re being compared with the most brilliant people you have likely ever been surrounded by, so please remember how remarkable it is that you’ve even made it here to take those exams at all!

Take care of each other, and reach out to us if you need it,

         Your OPSC Exec Team
