Global Unrest and Uncertainty Probably Newfoundland’s Fault Somehow

G

OTTAWA, ON – Still reeling from dangerous rhetoric and military mobilization in the beginning of 2020, our nation is left with a great deal of uncertainty. Several questions are at the forefront of our minds: What threats are legitimate? Which are merely posturing? How is Newfoundland involved?

It should be awfully suspicious to all Canadians that Newfoundland has remained shockingly silent in the past weeks. Citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador appear to have reacted to these shocking revelations at the same time as the rest of Canada, despite living an hour and a half into the future. Why did it take them so long to respond? What do they know that we don’t? Why is this maritime province acting uncharacteristically fishy?

Quietly nestled away on the east coast of our fair nation, Newfoundland is an enigmatic location. Most Canadians can say they have heard of Newfoundland, but has anyone ever met someone from there? As such, its motivations for either spurring on or hiding conflict are as hard to understand as the people who live there.

Great caution should be taken. Not necessarily all of the province is involved in this coverup or conspiracy. We cannot rule out the possibility of state restriction of information, or the influence of private actors with something to gain. In these troubling times one thing can be known for sure: It’s also probably Labrador’s fault too.
