Welcome to 2020 Osgoode!

W

It is a new year and time for a fresh start! On behalf of the Osgoode Women’s Network (OWN) Executive Committee, we wish to give you a few pieces of advice to kickstart this new year:

  • Remember that balance is key. Try not to forget about your friends, family, and the hobbies that you love. Taking the time to recharge will only benefit you.
  • Reach out if you need help! Whether it’s connecting with an upper year, a classmate, health & wellness services or your mom or dad, make sure you are taking care of yourself. You should especially reach out to the OWN executive if one, or all, of us can help you in any way. The Osgoode community is incredibly helpful to one another.
  • Osgoode offers so many incredible opportunities for students. Seize every experience and opportunity that you can! Branching out and getting out of your comfort zone will only benefit you professionally and personally.
  • Get as many mentors as you can! Receiving multiple perspectives from different upper year students can really help.

OWN has a series of events, initiatives and opportunities planned for this semester, and we hope to see you all there! Some of these include:

  • Our annual 1L Summer Experience Panel offering 1Ls useful tips and tricks on interesting ways to spend your 1L summer, as well as resume and interview help;
  • OWN Your Career – our biggest annual networking event, highly attended by lawyers from various areas of legal practice; and,
  • Our annual International Women’s Day celebration.

We are looking forward to supporting you throughout your path, whether it be in law or not. Please do not hesitate to reach out to ownlaw@gmail.com if you require help along the way.

All the best,

Rebecca Rossi and Alice Wang

President & Vice President
