Dear Osgoode —
This issue is our last as co-editors-in-chief. We are excited to pass the baton to three of our senior editors: Tomislav Milos, Lauren Graham, and Alice Liu. They will be taking over the management of Obiter shortly, and we are confident that, in their hands, the paper will remain a forum for expression on issues that matter to the Osgoode community. We know, of course, that they will also take the paper in new directions, broaden its readership, and improve its quality (including by catching more typos than we do).
This year, we produced 12 fully digital issues. None of them would have happened without our contributors and staff writers, editorial staff, editorial board, or sponsors. We are very grateful that, despite the challenges posed by our remote environment, so many people at Osgoode (including many whom we have never even met in person!) and beyond have continued to engage with Obiter—whether by producing content, editing, or just connecting with us via email or social media. We are especially thankful for our copy, section, and managing editors, who are collaborative, creative, industrious, perceptive, and, perhaps most importantly, forgiving. Putting out a 12- to 20- page newspaper every two weeks, even without the print edition, means a litany of deadlines. It is a testament to the tenacity of our editors that they have never failed to meet them.
While we won’t be back in the fall, we hope that many of you will be, and that you will help maintain the paper’s legacy and vibrancy by continuing to write and edit. In the meantime, we wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing you out in the world when we can once again join it.
Emily and Ryan
