My Music: September

M

Rappers are always talking about the cars they buy, the houses, the jewelry, or other luxuries. Dave has no interest in putting on the façade; he speaks in facts. Want to know how truly successful Dave actually is? Go ask his financial advisor.

However, the reason that this version and not the original makes the list is because of the added final verse. Specifically, if you are a fan of English football, there are a few lines that will make your jaw drop. Feel free to reach out if you find it and want to chat, or if you can’t, I would be happy to explain. Ronaldo was never going to Manchester City anyways.

Issues – Baby Keem

I want to call Baby Keem a rising star but to be honest, he might just be a star by now. Kendrick Lamar loves him. Kanye West loves him. He has already written songs for Beyoncé. His resume is nothing to pass over.

His new album The Melodic Blue is generally very listenable, and “Issues” is one of the standout songs. Keem is unique – his songs are difficult to classify. It almost sounds like a combination of punk, rap, rock and pop.

I am a huge fan. The beat is really cool, and it’s bouncy – it would make a phenomenal walking or driving song. His voice is quite unique as well, and he sounds great over the production.

This is a song I struggle to effectively describe because of how unique it is. However, I would recommend fans of any type of music to listen to Keem, and this song. It simply sounds good.

Love Tonight (Edit) – Shouse

“When you’re tired… when you’re lonely…”

I hear those lyrics and I know the party has begun.

This is not usually my musical realm. I don’t mind EDM, but it is by no means my favourite genre. This song is special though. The same snare and bass combo stays consistent through the entire song, making it one to dance too. The two vocalists also do a great job and there’s easy, repeatable lyrics that make me want to scream them at the top of my lungs at some nightclub in Miami.

This is a dance song. If you’re in a bad mood, try listening. It is fun and easy to listen to, and certainly a song you want on your party playlist.
