Happy new school year, Osgoode! My name is Irmak and I’m the News Section Editor this academic year for our great school newspaper (which, our Editor-in-Chief recently found out, is the oldest law school newspaper in North America). This year’s News team of columnists, staff writers, and contributors will be responsible for curating news content, relating it to you as a law student, and writing the occasional (and inevitable) retraction. Excellent news reports can be sobering. In the age of fake news, excellent news reports are in short supply. Often the media we consume leads us astray more than it informs. My responsibility and commitment to you, the student body, is to ensure that the news published across these pages meets the standards of thoroughness and accuracy you rightly expect as a law student. My hope is that you’ll find that content engaging.
