Thanking Our Writers

A Letter from the Editors

Dear readers,

We want to take this opportunity to thank our regular contributors. As many of you know, Obiter is a publication powered by volunteers. We do not offer a salary, volunteer hours, or academic credit. Nonetheless, each issue we receive high-quality submissions on diverse topics from diverse voices. We are very proud of this.

This year, we have made a lot of changes. We have more editors than ever. We launched a new website: obiter-dicta.ca. We put out two — unprecedented — 20-page issues this September. We have also created the positions of Columnist and Staff Writer, to acknowledge the significant time and effort required to research and write a story for us. Columnists and Staff Writers are an integral part of our team, just like the Copy Editors, Section Editors, Online Editor, and Business Managers.

To become a Staff Writer, all you need to do is write three articles for us in one semester. These can be for any section. It is only October, but several contributors have already been promoted to Staff Writer. We are very grateful for their work, and heartened by their enthusiasm.

We have some excellent Columnists, but, as with Staff Writers, we always welcome newcomers. Just write us three feature-length articles each semester. Please reach out to us at editor@obiter-dicta.ca or drop by our office if you have any questions.

We think Obiter is the best way to take a break from law school or the job search, write something meaningful, and have some fun. And it’s not too late to join us!

Sincerely,

The Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editors
